Interactive Designer (Web)

pingVision is now accepting applications for the position of Interactive Designer for enterprise-level corporate and community websites and web applications.

We're looking for a talented, experienced, detail-oriented person with an understanding of user experience, user interface design and information architecture. Familiarity with the Drupal content management system is desired, but not required.

This is a full-time position. We're looking for people living in the Boulder/Denver area.

Responsibilities

  • Interactive design, including creation of flow-charts, wireframes, mock-ups and design comps
  • Graphic design, rebranding, logo design and refinement
  • Work iteratively to direction from client and Creative Director
  • Prepare web designs for templating and "skinning"
  • Some CSS and xhtml mark-up
  • Best practices in version control, back-ups
  • Client contact throughout development process
  • Work closely with other developers and other designers
  • Active participation in the Drupal development community

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in user interface design and graphic design for web required. Graphic design experience for print strongly preferred.
  • Expert skill with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Fireworks, GIMP a plus.
  • Experience and proven ability in semantic markup, microformats and cascading stylesheets. (This is not a Dreamweaver job. Hand-coding expertise is a must.)
  • Familiarity and experience in the open source world.
  • Interest and ability to learn the Drupal CMS and its workflows are required.
  • Participation in the Drupal community is a must.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Client relations skills for occasional contact by phone, email and IM.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, but also good at collaboration, taking direction and working with others.
  • Proficiency in the English language. Multilingual is a plus!

The following are not required, but would be positives:

  • PHP programming/coding knowledge/experience desired but not required. A willingness to learn the basics are a must.
  • AJAX, Javascript (especially jQuery library), Java, Ruby, *nix, Apache, xml, Flex, Flash, ActionScript is a definite plus.
  • Experience with GTK+ and/or Qt a plus.
