Developer/Programmer (PHP)

pingVision is now accepting applications for the position of Developer for enterprise-level corporate and community websites and web applications.

We're looking for a talented, experienced, detail-oriented person with expertise in programming (including but not limited to PHP development) and an understanding of user experience. Familiarity with the Drupal content management system is desired, but not required. [More on that below.]

This is a full-time position. We're looking for people living in the Boulder/Denver area.

Responsibilities

  • Software development, mostly in PHP5, MySQL, and the Drupal API
  • Follow best practices re security and Drupal technical architecture
  • Accurate estimation of tasks to be done
  • Follow directions from lead developers on technical design
  • Follow directions from clients as communicated by web producers, project leads
  • Frequently work on multiple simultaneous projects
  • Occasional support and maintenance of client sites
  • Work closely with other developers and designers
  • Active participation in the Drupal development community

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent in experience
  • PHP and MySQL programming/coding knowledge/experience required
  • UML, MVC, object oriented design
  • xhtml and CSS fundamentals for proper mark-up
  • Experience and interest in open source projects and development
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Client relations skills for occasional communications by phone, email and IM
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, but also good at collaboration, taking direction and working with others
  • Proficiency in the English language.

The following are not required, but would be positives:

  • Strong knowledge of Drupal and the Drupal API. (If Drupal is new to you, interest and ability to rapidly learn the Drupal API is required. Drupal expertise is expected within a short timeframe.)
  • Experience/certification with Zend framework
  • AJAX, Javascript (especially jQuery library), Java, Ruby, *nix, Apache, xml Flex and/or Flash Actionscript is a definite plus
  • C, C++, C#
  • Database administration expertise on Oracle, MS SQL, others
  • Unix/Linux, Apache, basic server administration knowledge a big plus
  • Multilingual
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (e.g., Mathematics)
