Acquia Drupal is still Drupal. Acquia Drupal is the same Drupal core, plus some contributed modules – all vetted by Acquia, a company co-founded by Drupal creator Dries Buytaert. The Acquia Drupal code available for free under the same General Public License that governs the Drupal code.

Subscribers to the Acquia Network gain access to remote network services, Acquia Drupal documentation and the Acquia Network’s subscriber forums. Premium subscriptions provide web-based ticket management, as well as email and telephone support. The Acquia Network is your operations portal for managing Acquia Drupal sites and connecting to Acquia’s support channels:
- Software update management, alerting subscribers to the availability of updates for their Acquia Drupal installation and reports the current version of all components to the Acquia Network.
- Heartbeat monitoring of the availability and up-time of the subscribed site.
- Code modification detection to help site administrators avoid inadvertent changes that can lead to system instability.
- Subscriber forum access to interact with Acquia support staff and other subscribers.
- Web tickets to manage support issues, request features, and report bugs directly to the Acquia support team.
- Email support tied in with the web tickets system.
- Telephone support to speak directly with Acquia support team, including optional 24/7 response coverage.
